DanKatsu Volume 4, Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Today, Let’s See What Lulu, Cheria, and Celestan Can Do!

Today was the last day of April. A Tuesday.

From the morning, the student handbooks were filled with news about students making their final push.

Everyone’s eyes were desperate.

Some students had defeated monsters, but still didn’t get the option for high-ranked jobs. Those ones were running around, hunting for other possible requirements, getting tossed about by the whirlwind of rumors on bulletin boards and news updates.

Meanwhile, while the training grounds burned with a heated aura of effort, we were lounging comfortably in the guild room.

"Everyone’s here again today, huh."

"A high attendance rate is a good thing!"

All twelve members of <Eden>. Up until now, we’d never managed to all gather at once, but since yesterday, everyone had been showing up. I glanced around the room and nodded, and for some reason, Lana nodded with me.

Good—now we can really push training forward. Training is the heart of <DanKatsu>.

"Well then, let’s get started with the morning meeting."

"Then I’ll go first and report on yesterday’s results."

Sierra, <Eden>’s submaster, shared the progress of each party while holding her usual cute little notebook.

Keeping track of who was at what level and how far each team had progressed—it was important for everyone to know.

"Zephyrus’s party—Shizu and Pamela reached level 15 and cleared all the Beginner Low-tier dungeons."

"Ehh! Amazing! Lulu’s group got completely overtaken!"

"Clearing every Beginner Low-tier dungeon in a single day? Is that even physically possible? Very interesting."

At Sierra’s report, Lulu—who had just cleared the <Stone Bridge Abandoned Mine Dungeon> yesterday and was planning to challenge the <Still Waters Underground Dungeon> today—let out a cry of surprise.

Cheria also looked puzzled at first, then her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

She must’ve found something unknown she wanted to understand. Elves are greedy for knowledge, after all… though probably not as much as I am.

"Well, I’ll explain that today. After all, it’s your party turn, Lulu."

After all, we only had one <Mount> and only one person who could pilot it. With the party sizes, we had to take turns.

Hearing my answer, Cheria gave me a bright smile. Looked like that was good enough for her.

"Lulu, Cheria, and Celestan are all level 14, currently progressing through the <Stone Bridge Abandoned Mine Dungeon>. As for Princess Lana’s party, Rika and Kalua are both level 26."

"Got it. Thanks for the report, Sierra. …So, Rika’s group—how’s their run going?"

"Smoothly, I’d say. Kalua spots traps and ambushes, and Princess Lana heals poison or damage instantly. Their support is incredibly reliable."

"Heh, it’s nothing special!"

"Progress smooth. Victory sign."

Even though Rika, Lana, and Kalua’s party was tackling the most difficult of the Beginner Upper-tier dungeons with the smallest team, it seemed they weren’t struggling thanks to Lana’s contributions.

Her job, 【Saint】, was ranked second in the official "Top of Jobs" list, after all.

No surprise—her support was carrying the team.

"Alright. I’ve got some time tomorrow, so let’s go hunt <Sabottenders>. Keep your afternoon free."

"Got it!"

When I set the plan, Lana nodded with a radiant smile. Rika and Kalua both looked quietly pleased, too.

"…Popular, aren’t you?"

"Hm? Did you say something, Sierra?"

"Nothing. Anyway, we’re splitting into parties again today, right?"

I thought Sierra muttered something, but maybe I imagined it.

Either way, her follow-up brought my mind back to the task.

"Right. Lana’s party stays the same as yesterday. But since Shizu and Pamela cleared the Beginner Low-tier dungeons, we’ll switch members around."

I quickly jotted down the groupings in my notes.

  • Team 1: Zephyrus, Ester, Lulu, Cheria, Celestan

  • Team 2: Hanna, Sierra, Shizu, Pamela

  • Team 3: Lana, Kalua, Rika

And that was that.

Compared to yesterday, the frontliners of Teams 1 and 2 had been swapped. Team 3 continued as before.

"That should do it. By the way, Pamela…"

"Yes, desu!"

"You haven’t had much experience with hate management, right? You should have Sierra teach you how to tank properly."

"Roger that, Sergeant!"

"…Who exactly are you calling Sergeant?"

Well, Sierra does seem like the type to come up with elaborate methods, but I doubt she’s the drill-sergeant type.

"Lulu’s group will clear a Beginner-low tier dungeon with me, then we’ll grind levels right after. The target is level 25."

"Raise our level by more than ten in a single day? I look forward to seeing what method you’ll use."

"Lulu’s excited too!"

Though her tone was polite, Cheria’s eyes sparkled as she spoke, and Lulu followed suit. Lulu was just too adorable.

I couldn’t help but feel excited myself.

"Alright then, let’s each enjoy our dungeon runs. Move out!"

With my declaration, the parties split up and headed toward the ShouDan.

From here, we’d be operating separately.

Since most of the members were girls, they exchanged waves and high-fives before stepping through their respective gates.

It was a nice sight—really heartwarming. Celestan and I waited patiently while the girls finished their cheerful goodbyes.

"Sorry to keep you waiting! Lulu’s ready to fight anytime!"

"Same here. Cheria is ready to fight."

"Lulu and Cheria sure hit it off, huh. What’s with the copycat act?"

"So cute. You did well, Cheria."

"Ester, I won’t give up my spot next to Lulu."

Looks like Lulu and Cheria had gotten close in no time. Dungeons really do bring people together—it’s fun, after all. Ester seemed like she wanted to join in too, but Cheria’s defenses were too solid for her to break through. Keep trying, Ester.

As for me, today I’ll get closer to everyone too! …Er, I mean, have fun!

Once we passed through the gate and reached a quiet area, Ester pulled out the <Item Bag (Capacity: Large)> and set down a massive carriage with a thud. Lulu and Cheria’s eyes instantly sparkled like jewels.

I had no idea how they could make their eyes literally gleam like something out of an anime.

Cheria once told me elves can’t help but sparkle when their thirst for knowledge is stirred… but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the reason here.

We all climbed aboard. I took the role of guide, Ester sat in the driver’s seat, and Lulu hopped up beside her with nimble movements—making sure to take her shoes off first. Good manners, that girl.

"Let’s go! Um, what’s this carriage called again?"

"It’s a <Karakuri Carriage>."

"Alright then! <Karakuri Carriage>, launch!"

At Lulu’s adorable command, Ester set the carriage in motion.

Perfect. This scene was so good it absolutely would’ve gone viral. From now on, Lulu’s doing all the launch calls.

Damn it, why don’t we have cameras?! Where’s the screenshot button when you need it?!

"Still, <Karakuri Carriage> sounds a little lame. How about the <Thunder Javelin>? That sounds like something a hero would ride."

I wasn’t entirely convinced, but the name stuck. From that day on, the <Karakuri Carriage> was officially renamed the <Thunder Javelin>.

The <Karakuri Carriage>, now the <Thunder Javelin>, ran smoothly, and since it was a road we’d already traveled once, Ester had no trouble guiding us straight to the deepest part of the <Still Waters Underground Dungeon>.

What stuck with me most was how much fun Lulu and Cheria were having along the way.

Every time a monster got rammed out of the way, they’d squeal with delight.

A little girl and an elf—now that’s a picture-perfect combo. I seriously needed a camera.

Soon after, it was time for the <Alligator Lizard> boss fight. Ester and I sat back to spectate.

The last two days, Sierra had supported them, focusing on teamwork and combat practice.

  • Lulu, the 【Lolita Hero】, was a debuff attacker who could also act as an off-tank—truly versatile.

  • Cheria, the 【Elementalist】, was a magic attacker who could deal plenty of damage while offering support.

  • Celestan, the 【Butler】, was a self-buff attacker who could dodge-tank a little.

All in all, this team leaned toward offense.

Only Lulu and Celestan could play the tank role, but Lulu’s method was highly unorthodox: using debuffs to strip enemies of attack power and accuracy until their blows turned into harmless scratches—then tanking them with ease.

Given that the 【Lolita Hero】 recovers MP the more they’re attacked, the strategy was a perfect match.

When her MP ran low, she’d just soak up a flurry of weak hits to refill it, then unleash powerful skills like 『Heroes Never Lose』 to go on a rampage.

With a competent healer, this job could become an unstoppable force without even needing a dedicated tank.

For this boss fight, they could’ve built their plan around Lulu as the main tank, or let Celestan dodge-tank instead.

But in the end, they chose neither—everyone went full attacker, coordinating their strikes while dodging or blocking whenever they were targeted.

Basically: if you get aggro, defend or evade while the others attack; when the target shifts, repeat.

Hmm… it worked for now, but the strategy lacked stability. It was fine at low levels, but once dungeon difficulty ramped up, this method would fall apart fast.

Was Sierra the one who taught them this? Their coordination was indeed sharp—they clearly understood the basics of hate and targeting—but for the long run, this wasn’t the best approach.

Compared to Shizu and Pamela’s boss battle—which looked more like a comedy skit—this one was a lot more stable. Ah, they beat it.

Once the fight was over, I gathered everyone together.

"Good work. That’s the last of the Beginner low-tier dungeons cleared. Congrats."

"Thank you very much."

"Thank youuu!"

"By the way, that strategy—was Sierra the one who taught it to you?"

"Yes. She said it was the standard approach when you don’t have a tank. …Was there a problem with it?"

After giving them some praise, Cheria and Lulu clapped their hands together, smiling with joy. Honestly, it was a wholesome scene.

When I asked about their tactics, Celestan explained that Sierra had taught them.

"Well, it works fine for this dungeon. But once you start taking on harder ones, the demand for a tank rises naturally. In boss fights especially, tanks are absolutely indispensable. Which is why I’m wondering why she would teach you a no-tank strategy."

Boss fights without tanks? That’s a recipe for a wipe. That’s the iron rule.

You can’t skip the tank. That’s always been my stance—well, with a few exceptions.

Just as I was puzzling over why Sierra hadn’t trained them around Lulu’s potential as the core tank, Celestan pulled out a cute little sheet of paper.

"Lady Sierra entrusted this to me."

"A note? Or is it a letter? Alright, I’ll take it."

The paper looked just like the ones Sierra always used for her memos. Definitely familiar.

A little nervous about receiving such a dainty letter—even if through Celestan—I began reading it.

"…Ah. I see."

For a moment, I thought it might be that kind of legendary letter, the kind that shows up in romcoms. But nope—it was just a request for help.

She basically wrote: I don’t know how to raise a 【Lolita Hero】, I don’t know much about 【Butler】, and I’ve never even heard of 【Elementalist】. Please take over their training for me.

Right. I had forgotten that high-ranking jobs were extremely rare in this world. No wonder she had no clue about their optimal playstyles. My bad.

"Well then… Celestan, Lulu, Cheria. What level are your jobs now?"

"With that last fight, I just reached Lv15."

"Ehh, Celestan, that's not fair! Lulu didn’t level up at all!"

"I’m the same as Lulu."

"Celestan’s job is High-rank mid-tier, so it requires less EXP to level. That’s the only reason. If we run the boss one more time, you two will catch up."

Since Beginner Mid-tier dungeons had an entry requirement of Lv15, and Lulu and Cheria were still Lv14, I decided we’d repeat the boss fight. Good chance to also teach them some role-appropriate tactics.

"Boss… again?"

"Are we re-entering the dungeon?"

Ah, right. They hadn’t seen the <Official Cheat Tactic: Boss Farming> yet.

Very well. Let’s start there.

Time to show them <Eden>’s leveling method.

So I slammed my Unique Skill 『Brave Slash』 into the door of the boss room.

"『Element Arrow』!"

"『Straight Punch』!"

"『Charm Sword』!"

"Gyaaaahhh…"

The <Alligator Lizard>, already knocked down, was finished off by everyone’s combined attacks. Its HP dropped to zero, and it vanished.

This was already our fourth round, and they were clearly getting used to boss fights.

When the boss respawned thanks to the <Official Cheat Tactic: Boss Farming>, Cheria and Lulu’s eyes lit up in awe. Their reactions were amazing—exactly the kind of thing I live for!

Anyway, truth be told, they both hit Lv15 on the first repeat, so we could’ve stopped there. But since they wanted more practice in using their jobs’ unique strengths, I stuck around and helped them train.

"You’re really starting to get the hang of it, aren’t you?"

"Yes! At first it was scary. But with Cheria Onee-chan protecting me, I’m not scared anymore!"

"That’s right. At first, I honestly wondered what kind of madman would try to make a little girl play tank… but her HP and skills really are amazing."

"Cheria, maybe soften your words a little, huh."

…Not that I could really blame her. Honestly, I didn’t want to either.

Seeing Lulu get swarmed with attacks really was heart-stopping. She didn’t even have a shield.

But thanks to her passive skill 『I’m a Hero, So I’m Totally Fine』, she barely flinched from blows that would knock others flying. Even when surrounded and pummeled, she could act like she was completely unharmed, making it look almost cool once you got used to it. (Though of course, she was still taking damage.)

A hero who shrugs off attacks like they’re nothing—that’s pure romance. Catching an enemy’s strike with just one hand, standing unshaken in the midst of chaos… now that’s cool.

One day, I want to try it myself.

Incidentally, there really is a defensive skill on the second-tier skill tree called 『One-Hand Hero』.… If Lulu ever learns it, the illusion would be shattered the moment she raises her left hand. (Not true.)

Also, according to Lulu, 『I’m a Hero, So I’m Totally Fine!』 doesn’t actually hurt. She said taking hits is only a little scary, but she barely feels any pain or impact.

Of course, her HP takes the damage for her, so she never ends up injured.

She doesn’t even flinch or go "Ow!" reflexively. Skills are amazing.

On top of that, Cheria lent Lulu a defensive boost through her Spirit Leasing skill, 『Element Lease』, giving her an Ice Spirit that raises VIT, and further strengthening her defense.

That Ice Spirit looked exactly like a palm-sized snowman—and it seemed to really like sitting on Lulu’s shoulder. Pretty adorable, honestly.

So now even Cheria, who used to glare daggers at me, has become completely charmed by Hero Lulu. She’s growing into the role perfectly. I can’t wait to see her once she hits Lv40 and unlocks all her job skills.

"Alright, since everyone’s getting the hang of it, let’s move on. Today’s goal is to get everyone over Lv25. After we head back for lunch, we’ll run the Beginner Mid-tier dungeon for boss farming."

"Agreed, it is!"

"Same for Lulu."

Which means this afternoon is Goblin hunting in the <Wild Grass Plains Dungeon>

After lunch, we headed straight to the lowest floor of the dungeon.

We did some light practice with teamwork along the way, but the goblins were so weak it didn’t even count as training. So we decided to rush to the boss.

"Until Lulu and the others hit Lv20 and unlock their second-tier skill trees, we’ll farm together. Then you can use your saved-up SP to grab new skills and spells, and the three of you can try boss farming on your own."

"Got it!"

"Understood."

From Beginner Mid-tier dungeons onward, the difficulty spikes hard. Beginner low-tier bosses are tuned so that even a solo adventurer can manage with effort. But Beginner Mid-tier bosses are designed with parties in mind.

Normally, you’d want three to five people for these fights. Kalua and Rika duoing them was… well, that was an exception. Rika’s parry skills are insane.

I still remember being stunned when Celestan told me they accidentally fought—and beat—the <Knight Goblin> while we were all busy grinding for our E-rank promotion.

Well, the three here should be able to handle it too, though it’ll take time. Faster if we help.

"The <Knight Goblin>, huh? I can’t wait."

Celestan said, flashing an oddly menacing smile.

…Did something happen between him and goblins?

Anyway, the <Knight Goblin> fight began.

This time, I took the role of tank.

"『Appeal』!"

"Gob-gob!"

"Gob-bub-bub!"

Four minions were pulled straight to me, and I left them to Lulu, Cheria, and Celestan.

Ester stayed on standby—using her would be overkill, and I didn’t want to waste her MP.

"『Charm Sword』!"

Lulu’s debuff-infused slash shone brightly. Anyone cut by it fell victim to her Lolita charm and couldn’t bring themselves to attack seriously.

"『Spirit Summon』! Please help me. 『Elemental Arrow』!"

In the rear, Cheria activated 『Spirit Summon』, the hallmark skill of a 【Elementalist】.

This time, she called out a Fire Spirit. Unlike the snowman-like Ice Spirit, this one had a humanoid shape—a tiny boy with flames for hair.

Then, when she cast the basic spell 『Arrow』, the Fire Spirit loosed a flaming arrow.

That’s how 【Elementalists】 work—the element of their spells depends on the spirit they’ve summoned. Fire Spirit means fire arrows, Thunder Spirit means lightning arrows, and so on.

It takes an extra step compared to regular mages, but since it saves a ton of SP, I honestly think this job is stronger overall.

Like, if you dump 10 SP into 『Arrow』, you can use Lv10 versions of the spell in all six elements. Pretty busted. And once a spirit is summoned, it sticks around until you dismiss it—though you can only have a limited number at once. At the start, just two.

"『Straight Punch』!"

Celestan, as always, delivered a clean, well-driven punch. It sank into a goblin’s face, a critical hit that dropped it instantly.

The three of them were using their skills and spells more and more effectively. Good progress.

With me holding aggro, the goblins were cleared in no time. Then the <Knight Goblin> itself started moving.

At the same time, Ester sprang into action. She must’ve wanted to show off in front of Lulu—she seemed more fired up than usual. As long as she remembered we were supposed to be supporting, that was fine.

"Here I go! 『Long Thrust』! 『Triple Shoot』! 『Flash Thrust』!"

"Gobbuuhh!?"

"…Huh?"

Yep, just as I feared.

Ester went a little too serious, and the <Knight Goblin>’s HP bar was instantly shredded to zero. Before anyone could react, it dissolved into particles.

Looks like, by sheer bad luck, every hit landed as a critical. From knockdown to stun and then the finisher—everything lined up perfectly. That sort of thing sometimes happens when there’s a big level gap.

…And so we arrive at the problem: Ester has gotten way too strong.

The air froze instantly. The first one to break it was Lulu.

"Ah, the proof…."

At some point, the proof of conquest had slipped into Lulu’s hand.

But her voice wasn’t filled with joy. It carried more of a lonely sorrow as she whispered, staring down at the proff with both hands.

"Ester, that was too much. Look at poor Lulu—she’s all downhearted!"

"M-my apologies! Lulu, um, I—ah, awawa…"

Ester bowed her head as Cheria scolded her, flustered beyond belief.

It was a rare blunder for Ester.

"Let’s try that again. Ester, you need to learn how to hold back."

"You’re too strong, Ester onee-san!"

"Y-yes! I’ll devote myself to training!"

Lulu’s pout exploded.

Ester immediately went rigid at attention.

What is this scene…? It’s actually pretty funny, though I can’t say it out loud.

After that, we went back to farming the <Knight Goblin>. I was worried about how things would go, but the issue solved itself more easily than expected.

Lulu skipped right up to Ester.

"How can I get as strong as you, Ester onee-san?"

"Eh? U-um, well—"

"Ester, go ahead and teach her. You’re <Eden>’s top attacker, aren’t you?"

"Y-yes! To get stronger, you see—"

Thanks to Lulu asking Ester the secret of her strength, the awkward mood didn’t linger.

In fact, it seemed to spark a new bond between them.

After the rain, the ground hardens, huh? Good for you, Ester.

Still, she gets called onee-san now? So Lulu’s standard is… height?

From then on, aside from that very first mess, our <Knight Goblin> runs went much smoother.

Fighting alongside someone strong is definitely a good motivator—Lulu and Cheria’s skills kept improving with every loop.

And Celestan? That butler handled things flawlessly from the start.

Seriously, is combat just another one of a butler’s refinements? He dodges without even using any evasion skills, guards without defensive skills, strikes sharply—and all with a smile.

…Well, let’s set Celestan aside.

Ester also gradually got better at pulling her punches.

Especially since she stopped using those tier-three tree skills—that was a huge improvement. Way too strong for Beginner Mid-tier dungeons. Normally, you can’t even use those at that level.

Still, with Ester’s STR nearing 400, if she overdid her attacks, bosses would melt under the effects way too fast. Not an easy adjustment.

Maybe I drilled "All-out assault on every opening!" into her a little too hard.

But that’s my training paying off. Keep at it, Ester.

After about ten runs, everyone’s job level hit 20, unlocking the second-stage tree.

From here on, Ester and I would step back and let the other three handle the boss.

With tier-two trees, the three of them should manage just fine.

That said, it’s better to take one’s time when distributing points.

So for now, they only spent a little SP to activate two or three skills each. The rest we’d decide carefully after returning.

Activating too many at once just leaves you confused about what to use.

I taught them which abilities they’d need most right now and had them activate those.

This should make <Knight Goblin> runs much more efficient.

"Huh? Where did Ester onee-san go?"

"Oh, I sent her to gather <Mana Grass>."

<Mana Grass> is a valuable material that grows in the <Wild Grass Plains Dungeon>

Hanna had also asked us to gather some, so it worked out well.

There wasn’t much left for Ester to do here anyway, so I gave her the <Gentle Shovel> and sent her off on a harvesting trip.

By the way, I stayed behind because my job this round was blowing stuff up, healing, and keeping watch.

Efficiency above all—that’s the motto of a proper <DanKatsu> player.

"Alright, we’re off!"

"We’ll return shortly."

"Yeah, good luck out there."

This time, I was on healer duty. If anyone’s HP dipped too low, I’d patch them up with 『Aura Heal』.

The tank and attackers split their roles among the three of them.

First up, Lulu stepped forward to face the four goblin lackeys.

"Here I gooo! 『The Hero is right here』!"

Her taunt skill.

For just a moment, an illusion of Lulu (the hero) in a cape appeared, striking a pose with her sword raised high. The goblin lackeys’ aggro immediately shifted to her. …What the heck, that was ridiculously cute.

"Let me follow up. 『Spirit Summon』! 『Elemental Lance』!"

"Gobyuh!?"

Cheria muttered something under her breath as she watched Lulu, and I silently agreed with her.

She summoned a Fire Spirit and launched a mid-tier 『Lance』 spell at a <Sword Goblin>. It shot out like Hanna’s 『Flare Lance』 and landed cleanly.

"Then I’ll take a turn. 『High Roundhouse Kick』!’"

"Gwoargh!?"

Before I realized it, Celestan was already at Lulu’s side, driving a high kick into the other <Sword Goblin>, sending it flying. That was badass. His movements are insane—when did he slip into sword range?

"Lulu’s not falling behind! 『Quick Sword Art』! 『Charm Sword』! 『Heart Charm』!"

"Gob gob!"

"Gob gob!?"

Her opponents were just two plain goblins.

She boosted her attack speed with 『Quick Sword Art』, stripped their attack power with 『Charm Sword』, and weakened them further with 『Heart Charm』.

Only… she cast them in the wrong order. 『Heart Charm』 is a debuff, not an attack. You’re supposed to lead with it; otherwise, you just end up taking extra damage. I’ll have to remind her later.

One goblin staggered back from her 『Charm Sword』, while the other swung a punch at her. The sound effect was practically bonk. Even though it landed, Lulu didn’t look fazed at all.

That was thanks to her passive skill: 『I’m a Hero, So I’m Totally Fine』. Sure, her HP dropped a bit, but with their attack power already drained, the damage was trivial. Lulu’s base VIT was high, and her <Princess Job> armor was excellent, so she really was shrugging it off.

On top of that, her unique skill unlocked in the second tree—『Heroes Grow Stronger in a Pinch!』—kicked in, restoring her MP. For a hero, MP is their power source.

Now it was Lulu’s turn to strike back.

"『Small Spin Slash』!"

"Gobyuhh!?"

Her circular AoE attack blasted both goblins away at once.

"『Elemental Arrow』! 『Elemental Shoot』!"

"『Straight Punch』!"

Yeah, goblin lackeys weren’t going to cut it anymore.

The <Sword Goblins> were also getting pummeled mercilessly by Cheria and Celestan.

Soon, all the lackeys were gone, and the real threat, the <Knight Goblin>, made its move.

"『The Hero is right here』! 『Heart Charm』!"

"『Elemental Lance』!"

"Gobwaaargh!"

Lulu’s taunt and debuff hit first.

Next came Cheria’s lance, but the boss dodged it.

"『Charm Sword』!"

"Gwoaaahhh!"

Lulu lunged in, stacking debuffs, but the <Knight Goblin>’s blade came crashing down on her.

"L-Lulu!?"

Cheria’s scream echoed through the boss chamber. A towering mounted goblin swinging its massive sword—that looked really bad. But…

"It doesn’t hurt at all! 『Point Sword』! And then—『Charm Point Sword』!"

"Gwah!?"

The boss howled like, Wait, that should’ve hit! But Lulu was fine. Instead, her debuff attacks landed cleanly: 『Point Sword』, which lowered defense, followed by 『Charm Point Sword』, an upgraded version that cut both attack and defense.

That one was unlocked in the second tree. And it was strong.

"『Straight Punch』! 『Triple Spinning Backfist』! 『High Roundhouse Kick』!"

Seeing the boss’s defenses weakened, Celestan pressed the assault.

The relentless assault forced the <Knight Goblin> to a halt.

"Keep it pinned just like that! 『Elemental Javelin』! 『Elemental Lance』!"

"Gob! Gwoooaaahhh!!!"

Sensing the opening, Cheria fired her magic straight into it, and the <Knight Goblin> howled in pain. That hit landed hard.

But the goblin wasn’t down yet—it launched a furious counterattack.

Its sword came crashing down at Lulu again and again.

"I won’t lose, no matter what! 『Charm Sword』! 『Charm Point Sword』!"

Lulu swung her blade right back at it, refusing to back down.

…Somehow this scene feels familiar.

Ah—Lulu’s HP is starting to dip into the danger zone. Well, of course. Keep tanking a boss’s strikes long enough, and this is what happens.

Her MP, though, has nearly recovered to full.

"『Aura Heal』!"

"Hawaa!? Lulu already took that much damage!? Then it’s emergency dodge time—『Quickstep Evasion』!"

"Gob!?"

Caught off guard by my sudden heal, Lulu panicked and went for an evasive maneuver instead.

『Quickstep Evasion』—an emergency skill. A neat little tumble roll that says "bye-bye" to danger.

With Lulu—the target—vanishing in a tiny blur, the <Knight Goblin> was thrown into confusion. Looks like it couldn’t even follow her sudden, low-profile movement.

Ah, perfect chance.

"Now! 『Elemental Javelin』! 『Elemental Lance』! 『Elemental Shoot』! 『Elemental Arrow』!"

"『Straight Punch』! 『Triple-Spin Backfist』! 『High Roundhouse Kick』!"

"Guh-gobaaah!?"

Cheria and Celestan unleashed everything they had, hammering the <Knight Goblin> before it could recover. Its HP plummeted to zero, and it dissolved into a sea of fading effects.

I did step in with a little backup, but at this rate, the three of them will soon be able to win without me stepping in at all.

And so—the three-man battle against the <Knight Goblin> ended in victory.
