Chapter 2: School Network Terminal - Open Chat Bulletin Board 3

110. Anonymous, 1st Year Combat Student

Senpai! Please teach me too!

111. Anonymous, 3rd Year Production Student

I like your spirit. Ask away—anything at all.

112. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

As expected of senpai, you’ve got that commanding presence.

113. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Don’t butt in. We’re in the middle of welcoming and answering questions for first-years right now.

114. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

Volunteering for such a hassle of a job—your guild must already be set, huh, senpai?

115. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

I said Knock it off.

116. Anonymous, 1st Year Combat Student

Actually, I’m aiming for a 【Swordsman】-type job.

Right now, the ones that have manifested are 【Swordsman】, 【Swordfighter】, 【Rapier User】, and 【Fencer】, but I’m confused.

What’s the difference between 【Swordsman】 and 【Swordfighter】?

117. Anonymous, 3rd Year Production Student

Ah, that question.

That’s one of the seven mystery jobs that first-years ask about every year.

I’ll put together a summary, so hold tight for a bit.

118. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

Yeah, this kind of question pops up every year.

Doesn’t the academy put out some kind of announcement or something?

119. Anonymous, 3rd Year Support Student

Including that kind of thing, the academy’s policy is to make students figure stuff out themselves.

You’re only recognized in your job if you obtain it through your own effort, apparently.

Besides, if you want to research, you can do it all day long in the Grand Library.

120. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Exactly.

That said, while the Grand Library has detailed descriptions of jobs, not many sources list how to manifest them.

121. Anonymous, 3rd Year Support Student

That’s something the researchers are working hard on.

But looking at the curriculum for first-years, it hasn’t changed much since last year.

Which means their research must have hit a wall.

122. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

Oh, I remember now.

Those researchers were the lab coat guys swarming around the 【Hero】 during the job measurement ceremony, right?

They’re the ones deciding the first-year curriculum?

123. Anonymous, 3rd Year Support Student

Yep. They interview students who land high-ranking jobs and study how those jobs manifest.

Based on their results, the curriculum gets updated immediately.

They haven’t made any big discoveries yet,

but they have identified the conditions for most lower-tier jobs. That’s their achievement.

124. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

Don’t care, I don’t use low-tier jobs.

125. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Yeah, that’s the issue.

It’d be nice if they’d figure out the requirements for higher-tier jobs.

But they don’t have enough samples or test subjects, so they’re stuck.

Right now, they’re pouring everything into figuring out mid-tier jobs.

126. Anonymous, 3rd Year Production Student

Sorry to keep you waiting.

Here’s a simplified version of what’s written in the dictionary at the Grand Library called <The 【Swordsman】 Dictionary is Missing Pages>.

【Swordsman】 and 【Rapier User】 are lower-tier jobs. SUP 12, standard is to carry a shield, skillset is well-balanced: 9 skills, 1 unique.

Weapons are limited: 【Swordsman】 uses one-handed swords, 【Rapier User】 uses only rapiers.

【Swordfighter】 and 【Fencer】 are mid-tier jobs. SUP 15, skillset is attack-focused: 14 skills, 1 unique.

Both can equip shields, two-handed swords, rapiers, and katanas.

127. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

That dictionary title—what even is that?

128. Anonymous, 3rd Year Production Student

No idea. But the content is solid.

129. Anonymous, 1st Year Combat Student

Thank you for looking that up!

So from what I see, 【Swordfighter】 is stronger than 【Swordsman】, right?

130. Anonymous, 3rd Year Production Student

Yeah, pretty much.

In parties, roles are divided up, so it’s important to be clear on your position.

Specialized jobs give you an edge there.

The worst thing is to be indecisive—being average at everything makes you fall behind those who specialize.

131. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

That’s why you should just say it clearly, senpai.

Mid-tier jobs are better than low-tier ones—done.

132. Anonymous, 3rd Year Production Student

Calm down, junior.

It’s an upperclassman’s job to guide underclassmen.

Explaining things and letting them think it through is important too.

133. Anonymous, 1st Year Combat Student

Thanks, senpai!

That really helped!

I’ve decided—I’m going to go with 【Swordfighter】!

134. Anonymous, 3rd Year Production Student

If you made that choice yourself, then that job is the right one for you.

Give it your best.

135. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

Senpai’s way too perfect.

A true role model of confidence.

654. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

The guild battles have started calming down.

Today, only two C-rank guilds swapped places.

Looks like things are starting to return to normal.

655. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Your research is as amazing as ever, senpai.

I’m a little curious how you actually gather all that info, though.

656. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Oh? So you're saying you want to be punished?

657. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

No way! I’d never!!

658. Anonymous, 3rd Year Support Student

When a guild loses a battle, it can’t challenge again for a whole month.

And since challenging costs a fee, things naturally start to settle down over time.

659. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemy Student

Hey, Swordsman—how’d your guild battle go anyway?

Didn’t Support-senpai recommend a good guild to you?

660. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Yup!

Thanks to that, I managed to get into a C-rank guild!

Really appreciate it, senpai!

661. Anonymous, 3rd Year Support Student

Glad to hear the info helped.

But don’t let your guard down.

Once the one-month cooldown is up, the same kind of chaos will happen all over again.

662. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Wait, really?

Can you explain that in more detail?

663. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

I’ll explain.

In April, the upperclassmen graduated, leaving guilds in a bit of chaos.

A lot of guilds dropped in rank because others took advantage of the instability.

Once challenged, it’s hard to refuse unless there’s a very good reason.

But after accepting a challenge, you’re safe for a month from further ones.

During that month, many guilds rebuild their structure and prepare for retaliation.

Then, the guilds that lost their rank start rising up again—it’s their comeback story.

Like, "Let’s take back the glory we once had!"

664. Anonymous, 3rd Year Support Student

It’s commonly called the "April Preliminaries” and the "May Main Battle.”

Winning in this period gives you a better shot at recruiting skilled first-years, so the competition gets fierce.

It becomes a full-blown guild battle between fully-prepared teams.

665. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Whaaat!? Wh-what should we do!?

Our guild is seriously not ready for that!

We only managed to climb up by beating some weak, half-dead guild that senpai pointed out—

If a real contender comes for us, we’re toast!!

666. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemy Student

Then you’d better power up within this month.

667. Anonymous, 3rd Year Support Student

Exactly.

Now that you’re in the spotlight, the real challenge begins.

Whether you can stay in the C-rank or not depends entirely on your effort from here on out.

668. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Eeep!? This is Sparta!!

669. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

I’ve got good news for you—or maybe not so much good, but definitely interesting.

670. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Wh-what is it? Some kind of divine message!?

671. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

That depends on how you take it.

Word is, an A-rank guild is going to challenge an S-rank one soon.

It’ll happen at First Arena.

You’ll get to see one of the highest-level guild battles around.

Burn the sight into your memory.

853. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

I’ve got an update on the 【Hero】.

854. Anonymous, 3rd Year Pharmacist Student

I’ve been waiting for this!

855. Anonymous, 3rd Year Trap Expert

Ugh, this guy again? Can we talk about some girls for once?

856. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemist Student

What, are you saying you're unhappy talking with us?

857. Anonymous, 3rd Year Trap Expert

N-no, of course not...

858. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

Everyone’s gathering fast.

I guess we’re all curious about the 【Hero】, huh?

859. Anonymous, 3rd Year Pharmacist Student

Well, obviously.

Strong, talented, holds a legendary class—and that face?

Who wouldn’t be interested?

860. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemist Student

Personally, I kind of hope he doesn’t get more famous.

Less fame means more chances for me to meet him.

861. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Huh? You’ve actually met the Hero?

862. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemist Student

...You just asked something you really shouldn’t have.

863. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Eeep!?

864. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Anyway, back on topic.

Today, the 【Hero】 returned from his first dungeon run in the <Meadow>.

You know what that means, right?

865. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemist Student

Wait, no way—did he clear Beginner-mid tier (Shotchu)!?

866. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

He cleared Beginner-mid tier (Shotchu) already!?

Dude, it took me until July to finish that, you know!?

867. Anonymous, 3rd Year Pharmacist Student

Wooooow... no surprise there.

Clearing it this early in the year is nuts...

...Wait. Hold up.

If he cleared Beginner-mid tier (Shotchu), that means...

Eh? You're kidding, right?

868. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Yup, you guessed it.

Looks like our 【Hero】 just formed a guild.

869. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemist Student

WHAT!?

870. Anonymous, 3rd Year Pharmacist Student

N-No way!

There’s no way he’d form a guild with anyone but me!

I’m going to go find him right now!!

871. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Whoa!? Hold on!

Did you already forget that the academy posted a warning after that whole 【Hero】 recruitment battle?

Even that 3rd Year Production senpai said it—we can’t cause trouble for the Hero!

872. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemist Student

Shut it.

873. Anonymous, 2nd Year Swordsman Student

Eeekk!?

874. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Oh, and about the members—

They're incredible too.

The Hero.

Princess Lana-sama

The Countess, who’s also the Royal Shield.

The genius knight who's the princess's personal guard.

And that prodigy, a first-year Alchemist Student girl.

That’s the lineup they registered with, based on my research.

You know all of them—they’re basically celebrities.

875. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

Wait, seriously!? Even the princess is in the guild!?

876. Anonymous, 2nd Year Alchemist Student

Nooooo!

We have no chance against that kind of team!!

877. Anonymous, 3rd Year Pharmacist Student

Is this... really my fate?

878. Anonymous, 2nd Year Music Student

What the heck!? Are you kidding me?!

How could the princess join the Hero’s guild behind our backs!?

Someone explain—now!!

879. Anonymous, 3rd Year Trap Expert

Wait... you’re part of the Princess's Guard, right?

You didn’t know!?

880. Anonymous, 2nd Year Music Student

If I had known, I would've stopped it with everything I had!!

That Hero—what did he do to charm her!?

881. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

This is getting kinda wild.

Are we gonna be okay?

882. Anonymous, 3rd Year Investigator Student

Well, I just shared info people would’ve found out eventually.

What happens next? The rest is up to fate, I guess.

883. Anonymous, 2nd Year Production Student

You just stirred the pot and dipped.

Honestly... kind of admirable.
