DanKatsu Volume 3, Afterword

Afterword

Hello, this is Nishikigi Kaede.

Thank you so much for picking up Reincarnation In The Game World <DanKatsu> - Game Addict Plays "Encouragement For Job Hunting In Dungeons" From a New Game - Volume 3

And to you, the one who bought this book—please accept my deepest gratitude!

It’s only thanks to the support of all you readers that I’ve been able to keep this series going, volume after volume. I’ll keep working hard to pursue what makes this story fun, so I hope you’ll stay with me in the future as well.

As for the highlight this time, there are a lot of things I could point to, but above all, I want to spotlight the very first Guild Battle Promotion Exam!

Eden’s first guild battle—five versus three, with no prior PvP experience. It was the perfect tutorial-style guild battle, and with Zephyrus’ “there’s no way we can lose” strategy, they came out with an easy win. Through that fight, I was able to show that guild battles aren’t just about level differences, but rather about team tactics—the core content of DanKatsu.

We also got the debut of Cheria, Lulu, and Celestan.

Lulu, a fan-favorite character, even made it into the color illustration! She was absolutely adorable in color! Honestly, there’s no way such a cute little girl could ever be allowed into another guild.

This time, the surprise hit item, the “Plushies of Heaven and Hell,” also managed to sneak into the color spread. On top of that, it showed up in one of the illustrations, and even once more on the back cover of the physical book—three appearances in total!

To be honest, when I first saw the rough sketch of Lulu together with the Plushies of Heaven and Hell, I literally trembled—it was just too cute. Seeing them hugging each other made me regret not writing a scene in the main story where Lulu joins in, so the three of them are hugging together. That might be my single biggest regret since starting DanKatsu. So I decided to include it in Volume 13 of the web version. I definitely want it illustrated someday.

If I keep talking about Lulu, this afterword will end before I know it, so let’s move on.

The first illustration in this volume featured Cheria along with the Spirit Garden. I’ve been wanting to explain the Spirit Garden for a while now, but the right opportunity never came. Well, it’s not some deep lore or anything—basically, it’s a mix of items that summon spirits, house them, and feed them. I’ll go into more detail some other time.

As for Celestan, he turned out way cooler than I expected. I was honestly stunned—it made me realize all over again just how amazing the artwork is.

Well, I’m about to run out of space talking about this volume’s characters, so I’ll wrap it up here.

Finally, my thanks.

To Mr. F, my editor, and everyone at TO Books, to Shuri-san for drawing such wonderful illustrations, to all those involved in publishing this book, and most of all—to you readers who picked it up—thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Let’s meet again in the next volume!
