DanKatsu Volume 2, Afterword

Afterword

Hello, this is Nishikigi Kaede.

Thank you very much for picking up Volume 2 of <Game World Reincarnation <DanKatsu> ~Game Addicts Plays "Encouragement For Job Hunting In Dungeons" From a "New Game"~.

And to you who actually bought this book—I give you my deepest thanks!

The fact that this series has been able to safely reach another volume is all thanks to your support, readers. Truly, I’m grateful.

I’ll keep working hard to chase after more fun and excitement, so I hope you’ll continue supporting me from here on out.

Now then, this time the very first guild battle was held—one of the main contents of <DanKatsu>.

In Volume 2, I included image diagrams that weren’t in the web version. Specifically, the "nonagon" diagram. These diagrams are original to <DanKatsu>, and by now, readers even call them indispensable. You can’t talk about <DanKatsu> guild battles without them.

But because of the nature of these battles, it was really difficult to convey the flow with just words.

I, the author, kept worrying: Isn’t there a better way to show this…?

And then it happened—the Kakuyomu site introduced an attachment feature. Until then, it was text-only, so this was groundbreaking.

Right around then, the Chapter 6 guild battle began. A certain reader commented something like, "I wish there were diagrams~." And when I saw that, it was like a bolt of lightning struck me. "Wait, I can attach diagrams now!" The idea just popped into my head.

I immediately got to work. Thanks to some skills I picked up long ago, I was good at making simple, easy-to-understand diagrams, so I whipped them up in no time and posted them. And before I knew it, they had become an essential part of <DanKatsu>. Honestly, even I was surprised.

Back in my student days, I had no money, so I used to make board games in Excel and play them with friends. Who would’ve thought that hobby would end up helping me here? It really makes me realize how valuable experience is.

And so, guild battles before Chapter 5 have no diagrams.

In future print editions, you can look forward to brand-new, book-only diagrams that have never been seen before!

Also, in the status pages of Volume 2, five new characters were added: Sierra, Lana, Ester, Kalua, and Rika. This is one of the highlights of the volume. The rough sketches of them are fantastic too, so I hope you enjoy them.

Well, that wraps up the introduction to this volume, so I’ll bring the afterword to a close here.

Finally, my thanks:

To Editor F and everyone at TO Books, to Akari-san for the wonderful illustrations, to all the staff involved in the publication of this volume, and above all, to you, readers who picked up this book—thank you so very much.

Let’s meet again in the next volume.
